Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Dr. Kansu held numerous leadership positions that shaped the field. He served as a founding dean of Çukurova University, was the head of the Plant Protection Department and the Entomology Division, and was the dean of the Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture between 1988 and 1991. He also contributed significantly to national science policy as a member of the TÜBİTAK Science Board and as Acting Secretary General of TÜBİTAK. In recognition of his immense contributions, he was awarded the TÜBİTAK Service Award in 1994. Prof. Dr. İ. Akif Kansu passed away in 2017, but his intellectual legacy lives on through his authoritative publications.
