Sleeping Dogs takes place in Hong Kong. The voice track heavily features authentic Cantonese alongside English. The game does not offer a full voice-over dub for every supported text language.

The Japanese version of Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is similarly region-locked to Japan and only includes Japanese and English language options. This version is also a low-violence version of the game. Select your language and press OK
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is the enhanced version of the celebrated open-world action classic, rebuilt and remastered for modern consoles and PC. Although the original Sleeping Dogs was first released in 2012, this Definitive Edition includes all 24 previously available DLC expansions integrated into the game's story—including the Year of the Snake episode and the horror-themed Nightmare in North Point —along with significant technical and visual improvements. Even in its definitive form, however, the game does not offer a straightforward, centralized "language switcher" that works identically across all platforms. Instead, the method for changing the game's language depends entirely on where you bought the game and what device you're playing on.
The game's audio will always be in English. The language you select changes the language for all on-screen text, including subtitles and menus. Also, note that Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition does not natively support Traditional Chinese on PC. This feature was exclusive to the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
