After an "indefinite hiatus" sparked by creative differences and near-fatal tragedies—including Travis Barker surviving a horrific plane crash—the trio reunited. Neighborhoods was recorded largely in separate studios, resulting in a fractured but fascinating sound. It combined the prog-rock spacey elements of DeLonge’s side project (Angels & Airwaves) with the dark pop-punk of Hoppus and Barker's project (+44).
